Macon-Bibb EMA to give away 400 NOAA weather radios at Macon Mall
The Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency wants to help residents stay prepared during severe weather

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency is hosting a NOAA weather radio and pillow shaker/strobe light giveaway on Thursday, August 28, at the Macon Mall Meeting Center. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is part of National Emergency Management Awareness Month.
EMA Director Spencer Hawkins said weather radios are a critical tool for receiving timely alerts.
“In any emergency situation, timely and accurate information is your most valuable asset,” Hawkins said. “A weather radio is an important tool to ensure you stay informed when every second counts.”
The agency will distribute 400 radios on a first-come, first-served basis. The giveaway is limited to one radio per person. Participants must show proof of residency in Bibb County with a valid ID.
This is the latest in a series of distributions this year. In June, EMA gave away hundreds of radios at the Macon Mall. The agency says it has distributed a total of 4,000 radios in the past year.
