Macon-Bibb EMA seeks public input on updated disaster mitigation plan
Community meetings and online survey planned as county updates pre-disaster hazard plan

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency is updating its Pre-Disaster Hazard Mitigation Plan and is asking residents to help shape how the community prepares for future emergencies.
Officials say community input is a key part of identifying potential risks and improving response strategies as Macon-Bibb County continues to grow.
“We want different points of view and new ideas so we have a complete view of our community,” said EMA Deputy Director Robert McCord. “Everyone’s voice should be heard and be part of making our community more prepared for future disasters.”
Public meetings scheduled
EMA officials will host several public meetings to gather feedback. All meetings will be held in Commission Chambers at City Hall, located at 700 Poplar St.
The scheduled meeting dates and times are:
- Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon
- March 9, from 10 a.m. to noon
- April 6, from 11 a.m. to noon
- April 6, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Online survey available
Residents who cannot attend a meeting can still participate by completing an online survey, which is available through Feb. 4, 2026.
