Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections enhances polling access ahead of November election
Following the May elections, the board received complaints about the new location at the Macon Mall being difficult for elderly or disabled voters to reach.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections is addressing concerns to ensure easier access to the polls for November’s election.
Following the May elections, the board received complaints about the new location at the Macon Mall being difficult for elderly or disabled voters to reach.
Director Tom Gillon says adjustments are being made ahead of the November election.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve, especially on general principle,” he said. “But we did receive some comments about how far the walk was from our entrance to our office, so we’re always exploring ways to make that better.”
The entrance off Mercer University Drive, where the courthouse annex is located, is currently unused. Gillon says some early voting polls will be set up there in October. Additionally, there is curbside access outside the courtrooms, and they are awaiting state approval to place an absentee ballot drop-off box inside the courtrooms.
“We like to offer multiple options for our voters, whether it’s early voting, absentee voting, or Election Day voting,” he said. “We aim to make it as convenient as possible, especially for those choosing to vote early.”
Other early voting locations include Theron Ussery Park off Wimbish Road and the Elaine Lucas Senior Center at Carolyn Crayton Park.
Early voting starts on October 14. Election Day is November 5.
