Macon-Bibb County pools opening Memorial Day weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County pools are scheduled to open in a few weeks just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

According to a news release, the cost to get into the pools will be $1.00 with an additional $1.00 to use the water slide at the  East Macon Community Center.

All pools will be closed on Sunday.

There is a need for lifeguards. The Parks and Recreation Department usually hires 27 lifeguards so the pools can be open six days a week. There are 16 positions that need to be filled.

To qualify to be a lifeguard, a person must be at 15 years old and pass the American Red Cross swim test. For people who are interested and aren’t certified, Parks and Recreation will pay for the certification as long as you work at one of the pools for the summer.

For more information, contact Macon-Bibb’s Parks and Recreation Department at (478) 751-9280.
