Macon-Bibb county continues to work to pick up storm debris

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Crews are getting closer to picking up all of the debris left from Tropical Storm Irma.

Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency Director, Spencer Hawkins says more than 60% of debris has been picked up. Clean-up crews have collected more than 52,000 cubic yards of debris,  about 1,431 truck loads.

Hawkins says crews are working 7 days a week and doing the best they can.

“We’re trying to be diligent and pick everything up,” said Hawkins. “Making sure that, everything is picked up and it’s done safely. We’re still dealing with very big trees, very big debris.”

The county still asks you to be patient.
