Macon, Bibb County Celebrate Earth Day with a Week Full of Events
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The city of Macon, Bibb County, and several other community partners are celebrating Earth Day all week long!
The celebrations begin on Monday April 22nd. An Earth Day Kickoff Luncheon is starting at noon at the Ocmulgee National Monument. Elected officials and other invited guests will be in attendance. To RSVP email midgacleanair@gmail.com.
Monday evening, middle Georgians are invited to the GO Green Fitness! event. Registration begins at 5:30 at the Riverwalk, 11 Spring Street (I-16). It’s a chance to get in mini-workouts, walking and BMI checks!
On Tuesday, a ShowHouse Tour and Lunch is going on from 10am to 12noon. The tour picks up at Wesleyan College at 10am. Participants will be touring a historic home at 1120 Georgia Avenue. Lunch will be held at the Macon Arts Alliance. For more information and to purchase tickers, call (478) 621-6020.
Tuesday evening, the Museum of Arts and Sciences is hosting a free movie screening of “Big Miracle.” The movie starts at 6pm.
Live music, pet adoptions, and tree giveaways will all be featured at Wednesday’s Mulberry Street Market. It will be open from 4 to 6pm at Mulberry Street Park.
Wednesday night, movie lovers can bring their blankets and chairs to Coleman Hill for a free screening of “March of the Penguins.” The movie begins at 7pm.
The annual “Adopt a Tree” event will be held Saturday, April 27th from 11am to 12 noon at Tatnall Square Park.
