Macon-Bibb Consolidation Close To Citizen Vote

Consolidating Macon and Bibb County’s governments could now be in the hands of voters.

Thursday morning the Georgia House of Representatives passed bill 1171 nearly unanimously.

This means, once Governor Nathan Deal signs off on the bill, it will be up to the voters on July 31st. The bill will reduce elected officials from the current 21 to 10, 9 commissioners and a mayor.
