MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County District 5 Commissioner and current Mayor Pro Tempore, Seth Clark, announces he will run for re-election to a second four-year term. That’s according to a news release sent by his campaign to 41NBC.

“After prayerful consideration and conversation with my family and close friends, I have decided to run for re-election to serve another term as commissioner for District 5,” Clark said in the release. “So much progress has been made over the past three years, and I want to continue to help this community I love realize its full potential.”

The news release said that since 2020, when Commissioner Clark took office, Macon-Bibb has cut county property taxes by nearly 50% while launching the Macon Violence Prevention program, the largest investment in public safety since consolidation, including millions of dollars invested within District 5.

It says Mayor Pro Tempore Clark led efforts to fully fund law enforcement, increase access to mental health services, fund neighborhood-based violence prevention programs and remove more than 600 blighted properties, including hundreds in District 5. The release also says homicides in Macon-Bibb have dropped by 45% since 2022.

The release added that Clark is a leader in the effort to attain national park designation for the Ocmulgee Mounds, which will provide for the preservation of the area while boosting tourism, creating an estimated 300 local jobs and generating more than $30 million per year in overall economic impact.

The nonpartisan general election will be held on May 21.
