Macon-Bibb commissioner looking for male mentors
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One Macon-Bibb commissioner is asking for men around the county to mentor the area’s young people.
Commissioner Al Tillman along with volunteers from the Mentor’s Project spoke to a handful of men in Macon on Thursday. They say there are about 40 young men on a wait list to be mentored.
Tillman says the group is aiming to impact the community and he needs as many men to step up as possible.
“We as men have to speak up and stand up for our young men and our boys. There are many folks in this community that’s already mentoring. There are many more men that I think that need to stand up and mentor,” Tillman said.
Volunteers say an hour a week can make all the difference in a child’s life. Tillman adds it’s time to invest in the county’s children give back to the next generation.
