Macon-Bibb citizens vote “Yes” on ESPLOST

That is the 1-penny sales tax used to fund education in Macon-Bibb County.

Yesterday, Bibb Schools Superintendent Dr. Curtis Jones explained what projects the ESPLOST would fund if it passes. The projects are listed below:

• New facility for Northeast High and Appling Middle Technology Improvements

• Playground Equipment for Elementary Schools

• Security Improvements

• Gym Air Conditioning

• High School Auditoriums

• School Renovations

• Transportation/Campus Police Facility

• Athletic Improvements

• Surplus Property Blight

• Land/Property Acquisition

• Charter School Projects

Now that the ESPLOST is approved, the Bibb County Board of Education will appoint a citizens ESPLOST Oversight committtte to assess and verify the projects.
