Macon-Bibb announces funding for recreational centers
The Macon-Bibb County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night to use SPLOST funds to renovate a recreational center and to build a new one.
A total of $575,000 will be added for the buildings’ designs. Commissioners approved $375,0000 for the new design of the Sub-South Recreational Center. They also approved $200,000 to improve the Rosa Jackson Community Center.
The total amount given to the Sub-South Recreational Center will be 8.1 million and the Rosa Jackson Center receives 4.3 million.
“Years of deferred maintenance has left many of our facilities in terrible condition,” Macon-Bibb County spokesperson Chris Floore said. “Our community deserves better.”
There’s no date yet on when construction will start or when it will be finished.
