Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare Under Quarantine for Parvo

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare Center is under a 14-day quarantine after a puppy tested positive for parvo.

According to a news release from the city, the animal was tested Saturday, the results came back Tuesday, and the shelter was under 72-hour parvo watch.

After talking with a state inspector, the shelter is now under a 14-day quarantine. A state inspector plans to visit the shelter Friday or Monday which is standard procedure.

During the quarantine, the dog adoption and processing areas of the shelter are closed to the public. No animals will be accepted and only animals on the long run area will be available for adoption.
