Macon and Bibb Homicides Increase Over the Weekend
Law enforcement officials are asking for help. Four deaths are the result of three separate incidents from the weekend. Now Macon Police and Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies are asking anyone with information to come forward.
First, the Bibb County Sheriff’s office responded to a call about a male body floating in the Ocmulgee River.
Sheriff Jerry Modena says, “We feel like he probably came down the river, maybe slipped into it or fell into the river and came down almost to the Bond Swamp area where he was caught up in a tree.”
The call came in around 11 o’clock Sunday morning. There’s still no positive identification on the body, but there is a description.
“Approximately 5’9 to 5’10, full beard, bald-headed, has a tattoo on both sides of his chest…”
Around 1:30 Sunday afternoon, Macon Police responded to a double homicide on Maynard Street.
“Officers upon arrival found two subjects shot, Barclay Anthony, Senior and Junior,” said Major Charles Stone.
The shooting took place at a boarding house owned by Barclay, Sr. 63-year-old Samuel Pettigrew was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
According to Stone the dispute had something to do with rent.
The last homicide from the weekend happened at the Wings Cafe parking lot. The victim is 35 year old Alfred Smith who was pronounced dead early Monday morning. This case is still under investigation.
