Macon A Difference Workshop to Be Held in February

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Multiple Macon organizations are gearing up for a community service fair.

It’s called Macon a Difference: Celebrating and Connecting Those that Care, and Those that Need Care. The city of Macon Tuesday headed up a news conference announcing the fair, which will allow local organizations to offer workshops, networking opportunities, and showcase their work to the public.

“This community resource fair will be a time when 501-C3 (non-profit) organizations can share information and get new volunteers and new blood to come in an make great things happen for our community,” Macon Mayor Robert Reichert told 41NBC Tuesday.

“It’s something that the Martin Luther King Commission is going to support, we will publicize it–I just think there will be hundreds, maybe thousands of people that will come out and take advantage of all the resources available through these organizations,” says Elaine Lucas, Macon City Councilwoman.

Macon a Difference will be held February 1st and 2nd at the Macon Centreplex. Other organizations involved are Volunteer Macon, United Way of Central Georgia, Macon Housing Authority, Unity in the Community, The Macedonia Church, and Awakening Fires.
