Low relative humidity leads to high fire statement

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Pleasant Spring weather across Middle Georgia through at least today under dry northwest flow and surface high pressure. The primary concern in this pattern will be fire weather, as relative humidity values drop to around 20% across most of the area. While winds will be occasionally breezy out of the north-northwest, they will cap out at around 10 mph with gusts to 20 mph. Winds will turn out of the southeast for Thursday, potentially increasing dewpoints (and RH) enough to avoid a possible Fire Danger Statement from the National Weather Service. Areas of east-central Georgia will likely see RH values fall to around 20-25% again this afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s today, before falling into the mid to upper 50s overnight. We will be quite a bit warmer Friday, with high 70s across far northern Georgia and mid to upper 80s across the rest of Middle Georgia.
