Local WIC Fraud Investigation Leads to 2 Arrests

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Several law enforcement groups targeted a local store for improperly using WIC vouchers to make money.  WIC is the federal program that provides benefits for pregnant women and for families with young children.

Friday, the USDA, Macon Police Financial Crimes Unit, and SWAT Team searched the Pink & Blue Store at 3707 Houston Avenue.

37-year old Corey Demetrius Mitchell of Atlanta was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  28-year old Ronnie Wyvis Zachary of Warner Robins was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  Both have bonded out of jail.

Police took as evidence a gun, a small amount of marijuana, electronic storage devices, and several documents and records.
