Local veterans receive information about health care from Dublin VA
MACON. Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs staff members gave information to veterans about services they can use Wednesday afternoon.
The Dublin VA hosted a Behavioral Health and Wellness forum at the American Legion Post 3 in Macon.
Veterans talked about their experiences they’ve had with the VA and shared ideas to give better healthcare.
Staff members say being able to talk lets them find out about areas they to need work on.
Director of Mental Health Services, Dr. Matthew Geyer says, “I’m hoping that when people leave here today they get the sense that they’ve been heard and that we are going to take some of the information that we received and we’re going to make some changes that are necessary for our system.”
Dr. Geyer adds there is a community clinic in macon that are available to veterans with mental health issues. They can walk in anytime to be seen by a mental health professional.
