Local Schools Delay Openings Thursday

From Bibb County Schools:
After reviewing the forecast with the National Weather Service and local emergency management personnel, the Bibb County School District will delay the opening of school on Thursday, February 10, 2011 by two hours.

The district is delaying the start of school to protect the safety of students, parents, and employees as they travel to school. The National Weather Service is predicting up to half an inch of snow and ice in the morning, and it is predicted to melt in the morning.

All students and school faculty and staff should report two hours later than normal. The first session of the high school Ombudsman Program at all sites has been cancelled. All twelve month employees, Central Office staff, and school administration – pending the safe condition of roads at their homes – should report at regular times. Crossing guards should report to their designated sites at 9:00 a.m.
