Local Roller Derby Team Aims to Start New Cherry Blossom Festival Tradition

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Equip with fishnet tights, alter egos and a need for speed, the women of the Middle Georgia Derby Demons roll onto the rink ready for a showdown.

“We’re playing hard, it’s full contact and we’re having a lot of fun doing it,” said Amber Whitley.

By day, she’s known as Amber; but when she laces up her skates, she transforms into her alter ego skater name Ctrl-Alt-Defeat.

Amber is apart of the roller derby resurgence that is gliding across our area. The Middle Georgia Derby Demons was founded in 2012, and has grown into a full team traveling across the country.

And the audience is growing is too.
