Local organizations use Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast to pass baton to next generation
The Houston County MLK Unity Breakfast has been in existence for 27 years, with the college fair being added for the first time this year

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 27th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast and College Fair, held Saturday in Warner Robins, featured soul stirring music, words of empowerment and an opportunity to connect with colleges.
“We have to show homage to him and his dream,” event organizer Ira Foster, Esq., said.
Since the program launched, Foster has been at the helm of bringing it all together. This year, he says there was a stronger emphasis on letting the next generation take the lead with Dr. King’s legacy. There were music selections from the Huntington Middle School Choir, student hosts and even a scholarship presentation to a high school senior.
Foster says he and his team wanted to allow the youth to take significant parts in an effort to help them understand and appreciate the program.
Colleges from Georgia and across the country participated in a college fair, setting up informational booths to engage students.
“That I have a dream is going to look different for this new generation,” Minister Ken Rozier said.
He took the lead with putting the fair together and believes that while Dr. King’s dream may look different for young people, their creativity can keep the dream alive.
The breakfast and fair were sponsored by the Epsilon Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Houston County Unity Breakfast Committee.
