Local Mother and Daughter Share Rare Birthday

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s a one in 2 million situation. Debby Stone and her daughter Amanda are celebrated a rare birthday Wednesday–a birthday that’s only come 14 times for Debby, and six times for Amanda.

“I can never forget her birthday for the rest of my life it will be easy to remember,” says 24 year old Amanda Stone.

“It’s kind of nice the older that I get,” her mother, Debby Stone laughs.

Amanda’s a 6 year old Mercer law student…technically…that’s gotta be a record–and her mom is technically only 14. But 24 years ago, Debby got the best birthday present anyone could ask for; and 41nbc was there to share in her joy.

“Usually I get big birthday presents all the other years,” she told 41NBC back in 1988 from the hospital bed the day Amanda was born.

After a rough pregnancy, Debby’s new bundle of joy came on a rare and lucky day.

“I had a lot of trouble getting Amanda here, and I actually was in bed for two months before I was able to even have her so I am just so thankful to have her and her sister Stacey,” says Debby.

What makes this birthday so special is the bond that Amanda and her mother share.

“We do have a lot in common, definitely have very similar personalities–the same educational background, we majored in the same thing–we both got accounting degrees in undergrad–she graduated from law school a while back–I won’t say when or she’ll kill me,” Amanda says.

“She does have very much my personality,” Debby adds. “I think I have my mother’s personality and Amanda got mine.”

Amanda says the biggest drawback to having a once every four years birthday is that she had to wait an extra day to get her drivers license. We wish Amanda and Debby Stone a happy birthday.
