Local Group Gets Check to Help Fight Crime

Crimestoppers gets a big grant to help track down criminals.  The Knight Foundation presented a check for a $100,000 today.  Macon‘s Mayor, law enforcement, and other city and county leaders were on hand to congratulate the department.

In addition, the foundation presented the canine unit with life saving equipment.

“These are the hot dog systems.  What it does is you can set it at a pre-determined alarm that when the temperature inside the car reaches that temperature.  It will roll the windows down, flash the flights and honk the horn until somebody checks on it,” explains Pvt. Joshua Sanderson with the Macon Police Department.

Pvt. Sanderson says the device is the last resort to make sure his dog Kurt and other canines don’t overheat.
