Local Dog Trainer Preps for National Dog Competition
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Perry’s Dogwood Festival is living up to its name by including four-legged friends with a dog competition; one local trainer is preparing dogs to compete.
Mike Ferguson and his wife have spent their lives turning family pets into fierce competitors. This year, the Warner Robins couple has several ‘students’ competing in the events leading up to Perry’s Dogwood Festival. For Ferguson, it will bring plenty of people and pooches to Houston County.
“For the restaurants, motels, the economic impact will be great for all of it,” Ferguson said.
An estimated 7,500 people will be in town for the competitions. Ferguson’s dogs will be competing in several obedience competitions earlier in the week. On April 13 and 14, the Dogwood Festival kicks off and will feature the DockDogs Competition.
