MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Nine familiar faces, including 41NBC’s Tucker Sargent, participated in a culinary competition on Saturday aimed at raising funds for Youth-Up Inc., a Macon-based nonprofit dedicated to reducing violent crime and deaths among the city’s youth.
The flavorful face-off, held at Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church, drew attendees who each paid $20 to taste all nine dishes and then cast a vote for their favorite.
Dishes included barbecue sliders, peach cobbler and Puerto Rican chicken and rice.
Neighborhood Watch Coordinator Judy Gordon took home first place with her shrimp and grits dish. Macon-Bibb Commissioner Elaine Lucas was second with her potato salad, while Reverend Dr. Henry Ficklin claimed third with his chicken carbonara.
Tucker Sargent’s chicken and rice dish finished in fourth place.
YouthUp director Amanda Smith says the organization plans to host another cook-off next spring.
