Local boxing camp hosts neighborhood cleanup
The camp Baadaye aims to keep kids thinking positive and teaches them life long lessons. The boxing coach Daude Harrell says that camp will keep the kids focused and on the right track.
“Whatever energy that you put out is going to come back. You put out positive energy it’s going to come back, you put out negative energy, it’s going to come back. And this is nothing but positive,” says Harrell.
The camp was held at the Rosa Jackson Recreation Center in East Macon. It consisted of mentoring, exercising, and boxing.
On the final day of camp, participants gave back to the community by having a neighborhood cleanup.
“It has to be our responsibility to take care of our clean neighborhood so it can make the people who work to clean up this easier for their jobs,”says Curtis Coates III, one of the campers.
Campers walked through East Macon from Maynard to Norris streets picking up trash.
Harrell adds, anyone who is interested in getting their kids involved in some positive activities, can bring them to the Rosa Jackson Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30p.m. until 7:00p.m for his free boxing classes.
