Loaves & Fishes Ministries helps local restaurants

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Loaves & Fishes Ministries is celebrating its 4th annual Foodie Fundraiser but it looks a bit different for 2020.

Executive director Jake Ferro says 2020’s theme is “giving back.” He says restaurants have been hit hardest by the pandemic. The fundraiser is more about donating.

According to Ferro, there are about 26 Macon restaurants participating. He says the fundraiser is a way to encourage people to dine in, dine out, and donate. He says the fundraiser will last until Friday, November 6.

“So we are providing little buckets for each of the restaurants,” Ferro said. “If people want to donate their change or whatever to the loaves and fishes that’s fine. But it really to encourage people to get out and support the restaurants that were negatively impacted by the pandemic and that’s what it’s all about.”

Ferro says the restaurant usually gives 10% of its gross revenue for that day but not this year.
