School schedule changes and closures listed alphabetically by county:

Crisp County:

Crisp Academy (8/4) – “Sports events cancelled. Due to potential severe weather, ALL sporting events (practices and games) have been cancelled for Monday, August 5th.”

Crisp County Schools (8/4) – “Crisp County Schools, including Crisp Schools Early Learning Academy (Daycare Center), has been closely monitoring the development and path of Tropical Storm Debby. At this time, out of an abundance of caution and on the recommendation of our local EMS Director and the National Weather Service, Crisp County Schools will be CLOSED Monday, August 5, 2024. We will keep you informed as we know more about Tropical Storm Debby. Please remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions to stay safe during this storm.”

 

 

Dooly County:

Dooly County Schools (8/4) – “Dooly County School System Families and Staff, due to the potential for severe weather tomorrow and out of an abundance of caution, the Dooly County School System will have an inclement weather day on Monday, August 5th. Students, faculty, and staff will not report to the schools. All after-school activities are canceled for tomorrow. Please follow the guidance issued by local weather reports and stay safe.”

 

 

Johnson County:

Johnson County Schools (8/5) – “***Inclement Weather Update*** Johnson County Schools will be closed tomorrow (August 6th) due to weather conditions. All after school activities have also been cancelled for tomorrow.”

 

 

Laurens County:

Laurens County Schools (8/5) – “LCBOE Weather Update: Laurens County Schools is postponing the first day of school tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions. All schools and offices will be closed, and there will be no after-school activities. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. The first day of school will now be on Wednesday, August 7th.”

Dublin City Schools (8/5) – “Monday, August 5th @ 2:05 PM: Dublin City Schools is closely monitoring the movement and potential impact of Tropical Storm Debby. Laurens County is currently under both a Tropical Storm Warning and a Flood Watch. Following the recommendation of Dublin Laurens County Emergency Management Agency, Dublin City Schools will be CLOSED for all students tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6th. All games, practices, and extracurricular activities scheduled for tomorrow have also been canceled. Staff can work from home. To support families during tomorrow’s closure, we are preparing a bag of meals for each student to take home this afternoon. Each bag will contain both one breakfast and one lunch for tomorrow. At this time, we anticipate returning to school on the morning of Wednesday, August 7th. However, our team will continue to track Tropical Storm Debby’s movement. Should there be any further changes or delays, they will be promptly communicated through ParentSquare, Dublin City School’s website, and district social media channels. Dublin City Schools (8/5) – “Monday, August 5th @ 11:15 AM: As we continue to monitor Hurricane Debby and its potential impact on our community, all Dublin City Schools 21st Century after-school programs will be canceled TODAY, Monday, August 5th. Families, additional information will be coming directly from your child’s 21st Century Coordinator; however, please know that bus riders will return home at their school’s traditional dismissal time, on the same bus they ride to school each morning. Should there be any additional changes or delays, they will be promptly communicated through ParentSquare, Dublin City School’s website and district social media channels, as well as shared with local media partners.”

 

 

Peach County:

Fort Valley State University (8/4) – “For Wildcats planning to move in tomorrow, August 5, move-in has been rescheduled to Wednesday, August 7. Move-in for Tuesday will proceed as planned unless weather conditions do not permit. Check your emails for further updates. We apologize for any inconvenience. Safety is our top priority. Campus will continue under normal operations. Use caution when traveling. Stay safe #Wildcats!”

 

 

Telfair County:

Head Start (8/4) –  “Due to the serious weather forecast of Tropical Storm Debby, Montgomery, Telfair, Treutlen, and Wheeler Head Start Centers will be closed tomorrow, Monday, August 5th for the safety of our children and staff. A decision will be made regarding Tuesday’s schedule as we receive more weather related news. Please check back for any updates. #weatherclosure”

 

 

Treutlen County:

 

Treutlen County Schools (8/5) – “Treutlen County Schools will be closing today at 2:00pm for all staff and will remain closed tomorrow, August 6th. School officials will be meeting with EMA at noon on Tuesday to receive the weather update so we can make a plan for the remainder of the week. An update from Treutlen County Schools will go out tomorrow, August 6th by 2:00 pm with the plan for Open House, first day of school, athletics, etc. Thanks for your understanding!”

Treutlen County Schools (8/4) – “Important Notice! Open House and all athletics for Monday, August 5th have been cancelled due to the weather. Additional information will be posted as updates are received. Staff will report at 10:00am as planned.”

Head Start (8/4)- “Due to the serious weather forecast of Tropical Storm Debby, Montgomery, Telfair, Treutlen, and Wheeler Head Start Centers will be closed tomorrow, Monday, August 5th for the safety of our children and staff. Wheeler County:

Wheeler County Schools (8/4) – “Delay to School Start Due to Weather : Due to the anticipated heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debby, the Wheeler County School District is changing the start of the school year as follows: Monday, August 5: School and offices will be closed. No students or system employees are required to report. Tuesday, August 6: School and offices will be closed. No students or system employees are required to report. Wednesday, August 7: Weather permitting school as normal for students and staff. If the situation changes, another announcement will be made.”

 

 

Wilcox County:

Wilcox County Schools (8/4) – “Due to our area being moved to a warning under Tropical Storm Debby, we are cancelling school and all school activities for Monday, 8/5/24. We will continue to monitor the weather and update accordingly.”
