License plate reader is credited with helping to find a suspect driving a vehicle with stolen tags

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A license plate reader is being credited for locating a suspect, believed to be driving a vehicle with a stolen tags.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says when the deputy tried to make the traffic stop, 42-year-old Thomas Daniel Bacon Jr. sped off.  He was eventually stopped on Mercer University Drive, got out of his car, and ran through the Shadow Wood West apartment complex, where he was arrested.

Bacon is facing several charges including theft by receiving stolen property, trafficking cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Bacon remains in jail.  His bond was denied.
