New school-based health center opens at L.H. Williams Elementary
The center will provide medical and behavioral health services on campus for students and families.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Dozens gathered Friday to celebrate the opening of a new school-based health center at L.H. Williams Elementary School that will expand access to medical and behavioral health services for students and families.
The center will offer on-site medical and behavioral health care for students, staff and their families. Services include preventive care, treatment for both acute and chronic conditions and support for behavioral health needs.
With parental consent, students will be able to receive care during the school day without leaving campus. School officials say this convenient access is expected to help reduce absenteeism and improve overall student well-being.
“Reducing absenteeism is important, but even more significant is giving our children access to quality health care,” said Dr. Cynthia Jones, principal of L.H. Williams Elementary School.
Next month, the center plans to expand its services to include members of the wider community.
