Democrat LeMario Brown launches State Senate District 18 campaign in Fort Valley
The former Fort Valley city councilman outlined affordability and community priorities ahead of the January 20 special election.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Supporters gathered in Fort Valley Thursday as Democrats kicked off what they call a push to flip the District 18 seat in an upcoming special election.
LeMario Brown officially launched his campaign, introducing himself as a farmer, small business owner and father. Brown said his campaign is focused on addressing affordability issues and strengthening communities across District 18, which includes Macon-Bibb, Houston, Monroe, Crawford, Upson and Peach counties.
“We will focus on practical solutions that will help families afford life,” Brown said.
Brown outlined several priorities if elected, including lowering everyday costs, supporting farmers and small businesses and expanding broadband access and rural healthcare.
He pointed to his experience on the Fort Valley City Council and mentioned the impact of lost local healthcare access in Fort Valley following a hospital closure.
“Before I got on the city council, early on the hospital, it left Fort Valley and went to the neighboring city,” Brown said. “That made it hard for the people here in Peach County and Fort Valley specifically to get healthcare.”
Brown said his focus will be on creating policies centered on making life more affordable. He also said District 18 has been missing Democratic representation.
“A Democrat that cares, a Democrat that is rooted and ready in this community,” Brown said.
Brown ended his remarks by saying he plans to put boots on the ground throughout the district to campaign and listen directly to voters about their needs.
