Law Enforcement Agencies Launch Sweep on Truant Students

A massive sweep to fight truancy is underway. Today, Macon Police, The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, and Bibb County Campus Police, announced their plans to curb the problem.

The initiative started yesterday. A group of  27 deputies and officers scoured Bibb County looking for 50 students who are known to repeatedly skip school.

The officials unexpectedly showed up at the students’ homes issuing warnings to parents. Chief Deputy David Davis says it’s a simple plan to fix an epidemic.

“We’re trying to make an impact before those individuals get old enough to go to jail,” says Davis.
