Laurens County E.M.S. Wins Statewide ‘Service of the Year’ Award

The hard work from the Laurens County emergency workers has paid off.

Tonight, the Laurens County Board of Commissioners awarded the group with a special plaque, in honor of them winning the ‘E.M.S. Service of the Year’ award.

 The winners were chosen from a pool of emergency responders from the entire state of Georgia. They were judged by a peer review panel, who looked at community involvement, volunteer time, and patient care.

 E.M.S. 911 Director Terry Cobb says, his responders are thrilled to win the award over the larger cities like Atlanta.

“To us it means a lot. To be selected statewide…there were alot of large, private services, like fire based services around Atlanta. So we were put up against some real stiff competition,” Cobb says.

 Laurens County has 50 E.M.S. workers who all helped to make this honor possible. The Georgia Association of Emercency Medical Services is responsible for awarding the ‘E.M.S. Service of the Year’ award.
