Last Minute Shoppers Wrap Up Holiday Shopping
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Christmas is just hours away, but that didn’t stop shoppers from hitting the stores to buy last minute gifts.
“I always wait to do some last minute shopping,” shopper Lisa White said.
“Trying to wrap up a couple stocking stuffers,” shopper Derrish Martin said. “Pretty much got some of the major stuff out of the way a little early.”
These shoppers say waiting till the last minute has some perks.
“Couple of days ago you couldn’t get in here.,” Martin said. “They were elbow to elbow, so now you’re able to walk around.”
“I expected to try to beat the traffic and I think I did,” shopper Candice Johnson said.
“I wanted to avoid the rush and right now there’s not that many people here,” White said.
These last minute gift buyers are not alone. According to the National Retail Federation, ten percent of shoppers will wait until Christmas Eve to buy their presents. Johnson usually buys her gifts early, but not this year.
“I’m normally way ahead of the game but this year I just kinda slipped, I relaxed and I don’t know, it just kinda jumped on me,” she said.
With the holiday so close, these shoppers can’t wait any longer to finish buying their gifts.
“I always wait till the last minute.,” White said. “I’m bad. I just can’t get into the Christmas spirit until Christmas Eve.”
“In and out. I’m on my way outta here now,” Martin said.
