Last Beam Added to New Peach Regional Medical Center
BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s a happy day for residents of Peach County and the surrounding area.
The final beam on the new Peach Regional Medical Center in Byron has finally been lifted into place.
Employees from the Central Georgia Medical System looked on this afternoon as the final piece of the building’s frame was added.
Officials say the moment was a symbol of the 10 years of work to bring a new facility to Peach County.
The 68,000 square foot center will include 25 private beds and a larger emergency room and will be about 15,000 square feet larger than the current facility in Fort Valley.
“I think for the community, what they’ll see is they’ll still see the same good care that we always give,” says CEO of Peach Regional Medical Center, Nancy Peed. “The same quality care, the same faces, and the caring people, but it enables us to do all of that in a modern facility that’s designed for healthcare in today’s world–not in the 1950s.”
Construction on the state-of-the-art center is moving along as planned. Crews started building in May, and completion is set for next summer.
