Increased safety measures for boaters at Lake Tobesofkee this 4th of July Weekend
Georgia DNR urges boaters to follow safety guidelines amid increased holiday traffic

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Those heading to Lake Tobesofkee this holiday weekend are reminded to stay safe.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says it’s expecting an increase in boaters on the lake for the 4th of July weekend. Corporal David Fisher with DNR says boaters should not operate a vessel if they are drinking, the captain must ensure everyone has a life jacket, children under 13 need to wear one at all times and boats operating at night must have working lights.
Fisher added that there will be an increased presence of wardens on the lake on Thursday and through the weekend.
