MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) —On Friday, L.H. Williams Elementary School held its Leadership Day. The school says the event was for students to showcase leadership skills, project-based learning, and character education to parents.

Education Support Specialist Lavern Stubbs, says the day was important because she wants her students to know they’re all leaders in their own way.

“Finding their voice in this world and using those habits, being pro-active, having an end in mind. And seeking first to understand, so they can be understood. So, I want them to carry all the habits with them wherever they go in life”, said Stubbs.

L.H. Williams Elementary School says it’s working towards becoming a lighthouse school, and Stubbs believes, days like this will get them closer to that accomplishment.

Stubbs hopes the students were able to take something positive away from the event.

“Here we’ve learned something, and I think now we can go back to the students. We can talk about and evaluate what we did today and how we can make it better next year”, said Stubbs.

L.H. Williams Elementary says it will host Leadership Day again next year, in hopes of bringing in more students and staff.
