Korean Association of Middle Georgia Donates 100 Turkeys for Families in Need

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A local organization is spreading holiday cheer by donating 100 turkeys to the Macon Police Department who will then give them to families in need.

The Korean Association of Middle Georgia met with Macon police officers in front of city hall Monday morning to donate the turkeys. Each of the four Macon police precinct captains, as well as Support Services, received 20 turkeys to distribute to families in their precincts or areas.

Members of the group say they are happy they can help out during the holiday season.

“We love our community,” Tom Kim with the Korean Association of Middle Georgia said. “We share happy Thanksgiving day to persons who need help, so that’s why we donated 100 turkeys to the City of Macon.”

MPD CID Captain Terry Timley says he’s grateful for the donation.

“The Macon Police Department enjoys a warm relationship with the Korean Association. The group is an asset to our area and the MPD works to be as accessible and as helpful to them as possible,” Timley said. “As a police department, we like to connect with the community in such a positive way as the holiday season begins. “

The Korean Association is sharing holiday cheer across Middle Georgia. The group also donated 100 turkeys to families in Warner Robins and Milledgeville.

Officers will deliver the turkeys to the families just in time for the holiday.
