Knights Women Fall Behind Early and Come Up Short in Comeback
COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Middle Georgia State Knights women’s basketball team lost another conference game, this time to Albany Tech which they beat back on December 7. The Knights fell behind early and could not recover until it was too late and came up short 69-60.
A game that was close for most of the first half, trading the lead eight times in all, the Knights ended up trailing the Titans by 12 at half. The second half started out slow for the Knights who fell behind by 21 early on but tried to make a comeback. The Knights cut the lead to as little as 6 with under a minute to go but ended up losing by 9 to fall to 8-12 overall and 5-11 in conference play. The Knights were led by Tasicanna Taylor with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocked shots, and 3 steals.
The loss puts the Knights back to a game and a half out of the 6th seed in the GCAA with four games remaining. The Knights will face Chattahoochee Tech who is currently in last place next and could be moved to the 18th due to weather. They also must face the current 6 seed Georgia Perimeter. The other two games remaining are against South Georgia Tech who is the 1 seed and undefeated in conference play as well as the 3 seed Central Georgia Tech Titans to end the season.
The Knights next game is unsure due to weather conditions but potentially has been postponed from the 12th to the 18th as Chattahoochee Tech has travel concerns with pending winter weather entering Georgia on Wednesday. Check www.ihigh.com/mgsknights for updates.
