Kids and Parents Get Ready for New School Year with Health Fair
Parents and kids lined the hallways at Northwoods Academy Monday morning, to finalize all health documents needed before the students begin school.
The health fair was organized under the Macon, Bibb County Health Department. Incoming students were given immunization shots, dental screenings, as well as vision and hearing tests.
Every student who is entering a Bibb County school for the first time needs to be immunized.
Macon police officers were also at the fair, to explain to parents the laws of having children in car seats, and how to properly install the seats in the car.
Linda Holland of the Macon, Bibb County Health Department says, getting kids ready for school before classes start, is crucial in the learning process.
“We’re trying to get them all lthey need, so when the children start school, they’re not having to stop school and bring them out,” Holland explains. “Because every day a child misses, they’re missing learning something. So we want to avoid that.”
If your child still needs to get their shots or exams, you can take them to the Health Department.
