Keys Named Bobcat Athlete of the Week Award for Third Time
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – Junior Shanteona Keys (Roswell,Ga) has been named Bobcat Athlete of the week for the third time in as many weeks. Keys averaged 16.5 points, six rebounds, and one assist in a win and a loss for the Bobcats last week.
Her best outing last week came in the 72-48 win over USC Aiken Wednesday, Jan. 22. Keys scored 22 points, grabbed six boards, two steals, and added an assist. She went 10-of-20 from the floor. In the loss at Young Harris Saturday Jan. 25, Keys led the team in points and rebounds with 11 and six, respectively.
Keys re-emerged into the Peach Belt Conference’s (PBC) top-10 in three categories. She is tied for eighth in points-per-game and field goals at 14.9 and 94, respectively. Her 253 points rank ninth in the PBC. She has totaled 1,122 career points and is just four shy of breaking into the top-10 Georgia College all-time points list.
The Georgia College women’s basketball team next travels to Columbus State University Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 1:30 p.m. PBC tilt.
