Keeping Organized: The Laundry Room

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The laundry room is a place where someone can spend a lot of time in, but it’s not necessarily an area built for storage. Professional organizer Andi Willis is back to show us a few ways to make your laundry room more functional.

First thing Andi suggests is the use of added shelving. Cabinets can be a bit bulky for such a small room, so a few additional shelves purchased from any local home furnishing retailer can go a long way toward opening up the space.

Once you have your shelves in place, you can add an assortment of bins and baskets to keep smaller items grouped togther like cleaning supplies, light bulbs, and batteries. Knowing where such everyday items are now means not having to fumble about random drawers and closets looking for them later.

Andi also loves the idea of using wall space. She has a retractable drying rack installed which can fold in and out when not in use, plus a dangling plastic chain she uses to clip extra bags of potato/tortilla chips so they don’t quickly fill up the pantry.
