Junior League of Macon to Encourage Reading During Holiday Event

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In an effort to improve literacy and school readiness in the Middle Georgia community, the Junior League of Macon, Inc. will host a Holiday Book Fair. According to a news release, the organization partnered with Barnes and Noble, Inc. to make this initiative happen.

Starting December 7th, the organization will kick off the six-day event that will benefit students at King-Danforth Elementary School.

According to Ainsley Carter, the coordinator of the event, “Our goal for the Holiday Book Fair is to collect as many books as possible to be distributed to King-Danforth Elementary School so that we can keep children motivated to read and succeed.”

The news release also says that a percentage of the money collected will be donated to support students in this area.  The Holiday Book Fair will be held at the Barnes and Noble in The Shoppes at River Crossing through December 12th.

Children will get the opportunity to enjoy a good book with Santa himself. On December 7th at 6:30PM, the Junior League of Macon will host a Holiday Story Time with the man in the big red suit.
