Juneteenth festivities across Middle Georgia to be held

Communities across Middle Georgia are gearing up to celebrate Juneteenth with a variety of events planned throughout Middle Georgia.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Communities across Middle Georgia are gearing up to celebrate Juneteenth with a variety of events planned throughout the region. Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, will be marked with festivals, parades, educational programs, and cultural activities. From historical reenactments to music and food festivals, there will be plenty of opportunities for residents and visitors alike to engage in this significant celebration of freedom and African American culture. Join us in honoring Juneteenth and reflecting on its profound importance in American history.

MACON – The Juneteenth Freedom Festival will have events from June 7 through June 16. The Freedom Festival will take place on June 15 and June 16.

WARNER ROBINS –  The Juneteenth Annual Freedom Festival will begin with a parade from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and later followed by the festival. The festival will be at 105 Mulberry Street in Warner Robins on June 15.

FORT VALLEY –  The Fort Valley Juneteenth Festival will take place over 2 days. There will be a food drive in Montezuma at Flint River School Park on June 14. The event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Festival will be on June 15 at the Hunt Education and Cultural Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

HAWKINSVILLE – Hawkinsville Unity, a grassroots nonpartisan group, will be hosting a Juneteenth celebration. The Juneteenth celebration will be at James A. Colson Park on June 15. The opening ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and the event ends at 5 p.m.

TWIGGS COUNTY – Twiggs County is set to host a Juneteenth Celebration in Jeffersonville. The event will be June 22 at 5 p.m.at the Courthouse Square.

JONES COUNTY –  Jones County is set to host the second annual Juneteenth Celebration in Gray. The event is hosted Les Dames  Magnifiques. The Juneteenth Celebration will be at Carol’s Park in Gray from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 29.
