Juliette man dies in truck accident

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an accidental death that happened in North Bibb County Monday afternoon.

According to a news release, 45-year-old Kenneth William O’Neil of Juliette pulled on to Chadwick Trail around 5 p.m. after his work truck broke down. Authorities say O’Neil called for a wrecker and attempted to take out the vehicle’s drive shaft so the 2004 GMC 5500 18 ft. box truck could be towed.

The sheriff’s office says the truck was parked on a hill and O’Neil did not use a wheel chock to block the tires from rolling. The truck began to roll forward and trapped O’Neil under the vehicle. Authorities tell 41NBC the truck’s passenger side rear tires rolled over O’Neil and dragged him several feet.

O’Neil died on the scene. His next of kin has been notified.
