Judge Mablean Visits FVSU For Freshman Convocation
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Fort Valley State University held its Freshman Convocation today. The school’s guest speaker was former “Divorce Court” judge, Mablean Ephraim. Hundreds of students packed the auditorium to hear Judge Mablean’s message and inspirational story of how she became successful.
Before going to law school, Judge Mablean married and became a mother of three children. Determined to finish law school, Mablean went to law school at night and worked during the day as a legal secretary. Mablean told freshmen here at Fort Valley State University that certain things in life may get you off track, but it’s important to stay focused and get a college degree.
“I think what touched me the most is to hear her say that she is just like us. She’s no better than us and we can achieve the same thing, if we stay in college and work hard,” said FVSU Student Christopher Carter.
“I thought that judge Mablean did a wonderful job. She expressed to me how important it is to go to college and finish my degree,” said FVSU student Desmond Ingram.
Mablean was the judge on the TV Show ” Divorce Court” for seven seasons.
