Judge allows Gordon Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue to return to office

GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Gordon Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue can return to office, but there are some conditions she must abide by.

The mayor cannot hold private meetings and she can only vote in city council meetings when there is a tie.

She cannot enter into a contract on behalf of the city without the council’s approval.

She cannot terminate an employee without due process, and she cannot prevent city workers from leaving or entering city buildings.

Also, the judge said she cannot prevent public safety officials from getting fuel for their vehicles.

According to Judge Robert Reeves — those restrictions are in place because there is evidence that Mayor Whipple-Lue has violated the law.

He add anyone who violates his order can be penalized.

There is no word as to when the mayor will return to City Hall.
