Jones County Tax Commissioner Creates New Site for Property Tax Payments
GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Jones County residents will have a new way to pay their property taxes on a new website.
It’s something we all have to do….
….taxes….
Sometimes they can take hours to complete.
Jones County’s tax office wants to make the process a little easier
A new website where residents can pay their property taxes with a few strokes of a keyboard and a click of a mouse.
Tax commissioner Brian Jackson says the site is a lot easier to navigate than the old website.
And it’s saving the city money.
“The responses we’ve been getting from it is a lot better than what we had. It’s just so much more user friendly than what we had before, I think people are going to be pleased with it,” Jackson said.
It’s been up and running for a little more than a month.
For now residents can only pay their property taxes on the site.
“With our workload being what it is and the county having grown as much as it has…I can go get the mail and come back with maybe 200 payments, now I can have that worked up in 30 minutes….waiting on 200 people at the counter that’s an all day job,” Jackson said.
Jones County residents, like Kenneth Williams, think the site will help a lot.
“Saves a lot of time, you don’t have to drive. And I live in the south part of Jones County so it’ll be more convenient for me to do it online actually,” Williams said.
Others prefer the old school method.
“I’m retired I can come during anytime. I like getting out and getting around. It gets me out of the house.”
Jones County officials hope it’ll save people some time.
“It’s convenient I don’t know who wouldn’t want to use it. Why wouldn’t you? Same thing like online banking why wouldn’t you…saves you a lot of time,” Williams said
