Jones County Sheriff Investigators Searching For Owners of Seized Property
GRAY, Georgiam (41NBC/WMGT) – The Jones County Sheriff’s Office recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen equipment and electronics. Now they are searching for the owners of the items.
Investigators seized a tractor, boat trailer, four flat screen televisions, tools, lawn equipment, an XBOX player and other electronics, as well as hunting equipment.
“At this time we’ve got several items thatwe’ve recovered that we haven’t been able to yet identify an owner,” said Jones County Sheriff Investigator, Kenny Gleaton. “Our investigation indicates the property has been stolen, but we don’t know exactly where from or who the rightful owners are.”
Gleaton said the items were worth an estimate of more than $5,000.
Investigators have been able to determine that the tractor was stolen from Peach County. The landscaping equipment they recovered, they believe was stolen from Twiggs County. The Hunting equipment and clothing, Gleaton said, were stolen form Wilkinson County.
They found the items at a home on Willow Oak West while arresting a fugitive, 34-year-old Christopher Walker of McIntyre. He was wanted for failure to appear in court in Wilkinson on a burglary charge. He is now charged with theft by receiving, and possession of methamphetamine.
Investigators also arrested five people who were at the house during Walker’s arrest.
They are:
Brook Magouirk, 31, of Macon, is charged with possession of scheduled four drugs, theft by receiving stolen property and parol violation.
Jeffery Rainey, 28, of Jones County, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and theft by receiving.
Darrell Harrison, 44, of Irwinton, is charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Jerry Jones, 44, of Jones County, is charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Alford Jones , 34, of Jones County is charged with possession of methamphetamine.
If you believe any of the items belong to you. Investigators want you to come by the Jones County Sheriff Office during normal office hours to identify your property.
Gleaton said the suspects were not part of a burglary ring. He said they stole the items to support their drug addition.
Other agencies involved in the joint- investigation include investigators and agents from Wilkinson County, Twiggs County, Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Georgia Department of Probation.
