Jones County Commissioners raise Millage Rate

JONES COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Commissioners voted to have a rollback on the Millage Rate.

Property values decreased so this rollback allows the county to collect the same amount of money as last year.

Commissioner Daylon Martin said this is technically a tax increase, but the community won’t feel any major effects.

“For tax payers, it means you will see a slight bump, but, again, it’s not like a one or two mil increase. You will not experience some of the benefits that a traditional tax increase would account for,” explained Martin.

Martin adds, this increase isn’t to finish projects. It’s simply to collect the same amount of money that was collected last year.
