Jeff Smith Chevrolet Partners with United Way to Raise More than 60K in Car Raffle

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — One lucky middle Georgian got their hands on a brand new set of wheels Friday night.

For the third year in a row, Jeff Smith Chevrolet donated a vehicle to be raffled off to raise money for the United Way of Central Georgia.

This year the nonprofit raised more than $60,000. The money helps support its 31 agencies, and 51 programs that serve more than 100,000 middle Georgians.

George McCanless, the president and CEO of United Way, was grateful for Smith’s big donation, and the support from the community.

“Your support will enable us and again help the agencies to go out and help the people in our community that really need the help,” said McCanless.

Smith, who’s a member of the United Way board, was happy to help out too.

“It just means a lot every year, this is our third year, to see what middle Georgia will do from their heart, pulling money out of their wallet to help other central Georgians, that’s what it means,” said Smith.

The winner of Friday night’s raffle got to choose between six different models that included a Jeep, and convertible.
